The Healing Power of Sound Baths

Sound will be the medicine of the future. - Edgar Cayce

Lately I have been getting into crystal sound bathing. I find listening to a transmission right before bed induces deeper sleep and a genuine sense of calm in the head chakras.

If you have been interested in the healing power of sound baths, read on to find out a little more about this deeply restorative practice...

What Is A Sound Bath?

In general, a sound bath is a meditative experience where those in attendance are “bathed” in sound waves. These waves are produced by various sources, including healing instruments such as gongs, singing bowls, percussion, chimes, rattles, tuning forks, and even the human voice itself. Each instrument creates a different frequency that vibrates in your body and helps guide you to a meditative and restorative state.

sound bath is a type of music therapy and typically a way of managing anxiety, soothing the nervous system, and blocking all the ideas and thoughts out of your consciousness as you connect with your body.

Typically, a sound bath will involve lying in a reclining position after taking part in a yoga or meditation exercise. Next, a provider trained in sound bath musical techniques will use one or several instruments to create soothing, overlapping vibrations. The experience can be deeply relaxing, inducing calm and a state of well-being.

What Are The Benefits of Sound Bathing?

Sound baths offer us the opportunity to go inward and create a restorative practice that removes us from the stresses of everyday life.

Here are a few of the amazing benefits of healing sound baths...

1. Calms your body and mind

How Can I Get Into Sound for Healing?

There are many live sound bathing events available to attend in person. Try your local meditation or yoga studio or alternatively you can purchase tickets to an online live stream event or simply download a track from a sound therapy website.

There are also plenty of free videos available via Instagram or YouTube. Be sure to use headphones when tuning in at home and try tuning in at night just before you go to sleep.

The Aftermath of A Soundbath

You might find you experience a range of emotions during and after a sound bath. Anything from feeling blissful, to spaced out and as most people feel, a deep sense of relaxation.

Try to take the time to relax and invest into your inner world and deeper internal well-being. Sound bathing offers you the opportunity to find inner calm, peacefulness and stability and is to be enjoyed at your own pace and on your own terms.
